Music is everywhere. Melody and poetry. Each inspiring the other. We feel it move through our bodies and hear it in our minds, day and night. The songs change with the vistas we enjoy, the scenes of humanity we witness, the pain that visits unbeckoned and the conversations with family, friends, and strangers. The importance of music in our lives, our culture, our society is vital. It’s a constant but often unacknowledged. It’s a gift that is taken for granted. Imagine a world without music.
Henry David Thoreau once said, “When I hear music, I fear no danger. I am invulnerable. I see no foe. I am related to the earliest times, and to the latest.” We are surrounded by poets and story tellers, musicians and artists who share their vulnerability for the many of us who cannot. In doing so, the rest of us no longer feel alone. We are all part of the same journey and music is our navigator.
Superior Sounds Radio was born from this idea. Our stream began April 1, 2020. It started as one person’s desire to create an option for listening to all the great music that wasn’t being played anywhere else. Since then, it has grown by a few more volunteers. Several of us have worked at radio stations, some of us are musicians, some writers, and poets. All of us have a passion for music. The internet has made music very accessible. However, our mission at Superior Sounds Radio is to provide a unique listening experience. Our focus is on all the great music you don’t hear on the radio. The music you may not know about or be able to find. We love the North Shore and the music scene is exciting and unique. Our location compliments our overall mission, Homegrown and Local from the North Shore.
